The leading provider of integrated aged care services to the Southern Highlands Community. To maintain the meaning and purpose in the lives of our residents whilst respecting their unique backgrounds. HarbisonCare will attain its Vision and Mission by: Expanding our services with a focus on creating a unique environment both culturally and physically. The development of motivated and appropriately trained staff. Providing a sound and caring environment. Implementing a lean management structure with low overheads and administration efficiency. HarbisonCare is committed to providing the full continuum of quality concern services to its residents in a supportive living environment. HarbisonCare is a community owned charity and is incorporated as a company limited by Guarantee. The overall governance of the organization is the responsibility of the Board of Directors who are appointed by the members of the company. In managing the day to day affairs of Harrison Care the Chief Executive Officer is supported by a insignificant team of senior staff. The meeting was followed with much activity and fund raising in the community. 10 years later there was accommodation for 29 in a mix of single and double units and the first telephone was installed. In 1976, after many years of discussion and negotiation with government authorities, an appeal was launched to raise funds for a 60 bed aged concern hostel and a 40 bed nursing home proposed for the site at Burradoo. The project went ahead and the nursing home and hostel were opened in 1979. Although the site at Burradoo everlasting serviced the district which is now the Wingecarribee Shire, in the mid 1990’s the need for additional aged services was identified to directly service the southern segment of the shire. To service that need, in 1997, a new 42 beds low protection facility was opened at Moss Vale. Like the facilities at Burradoo, Moss Vale continues to grow and is now home to 138 residents. The mission of the organization is to maintain the meaning and purpose in the lives of our residents whilst respecting their unique backgrounds. The formation of the Friends of HarbisonCare in the latter segment of 2001 has enabled the many supporters of HarbisonCare to participate in a range of activities, including functions held to aid in raising much needed funds for the organization. HarbisonCare continues to look to the future and is currently planning development of empty lands adjoining the Moss Vale facility with surplus residential care accommodation and new self care units. The aging facilities at Burradoo are also being master planned for redevelopment. Over fifty years after its clever inception, HarbisonCare continues to work with, serve, and rely on the local community. The foresight of a group of individuals in the 1950’s has delivered a significant asset to the community in HarbisonCare.
At the time local hospital beds were jammed with aged and convalescing people and the creation of homes for aged citizens was seen as a way to relieve the pressure on the hospital. The meeting was followed with much activity and fund raising in the community. Named Cullen House, it was opened in 1959 (Opening Ceremony photo below) and is still in use today. 10 years later there was accommodation for 29 in a blend of single and double units and the beginning telephone was installed. In 1976, after many years of discussion and negotiation with government authorities, an appeal was launched to hoist funds for a 60 bed aged concern hostel and a 40 bed nursing home proposed for the site at Burradoo. The project went ahead and the nursing home and hostel were opened in 1979. Although the site at Burradoo always serviced the district which is now the Wingecarribee Shire, in the mid 1990’s the need for additional aged services was identified to directly service the southern piece of the shire. To service that need, in 1997, a new 42 beds low concern facility was opened at Moss Vale. This was expanded in 2003 to 90 beds including 49 beds specifically for those living with dementia. Like the facilities at Burradoo, Moss Vale continues to grow and is now home to 138 residents. The mission of the organization is to maintain the meaning and purpose in the lives of our residents whilst respecting their unique backgrounds. The formation of the Friends of HarbisonCare in the succeeding segment of 2001 has enabled the many supporters of HarbisonCare to participate in a range of activities, including functions held to help in raising much needed funds for the organization. HarbisonCare continues to look to the future and is currently planning development of empty lands adjoining the Moss Vale facility with additional residential care accommodation and fresh self protection units. The aging facilities at Burradoo are also being master planned for redevelopment. Over fifty years after its clever inception, HarbisonCare continues to labor with, serve, and rely on the local community.
